At Weald Rise Primary School, we are committed to the continuous safeguarding of our children and families and promote the ethos that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
As part of our commitment to safeguarding, Weald Rise Primary School has been given the opportunity to take part in a nationwide project that will run jointly between schools and the Metropolitan Police.
Operation Encompass is a unique Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership which ensures that a child's school is informed, prior to the start of the next school day, that there has been an incident of Domestic Abuse to which the child or young person has been exposed. The school is informed of all Domestic Abuse incidents, not just those where an offence can be identified or those which are graded as high risk. The partnership recognises that all incidents of Domestic Abuse can be harmful to children and young people.
Operation Encompass will ensure that the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence. The school will then be able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident.
We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
