Overview

Job Title: Assistant Site Supervisor
Location: Weald Rise Primary School, Harrow Weald
Hours: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (Term-Time Only + 4 Weeks)
Reports to: Site Manager / School Business Manager

Weald Rise Primary School is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and approachable individual to become a valued member of our premises team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of our school in a role that is both rewarding and varied. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Proactive and resourceful, with a positive and outgoing attitude
  • Skilled in practical tasks, ideally with experience in a trade such as plumbing or carpentry
  • Knowledgeable about health and safety and safeguarding within a school setting
  • An excellent communicator, able to prioritise tasks and work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Previous experience in a school or similar environment is beneficial but not essential. Most importantly, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake relevant training to support their development in the role. Job Purpose

To support the Site Manager in maintaining the school premises and grounds to a high standard, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Premises & Maintenance

  • Assist with general maintenance and repairs across the school site.
  • Carry out routine inspections and report any issues.
  • Support with minor plumbing, carpentry, or electrical tasks (trade background desirable).

Security

  • Support with opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure the site is secure during and after school hours.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs when required.

Cleaning & Hygiene

  • Assist cleaning staff and cover absences when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas including playgrounds and paths.

Health & Safety

  • Follow school health and safety and safeguarding policies.
  • Participate in fire drills and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain records of safety checks and risk assessments.

Grounds Maintenance

  • Support basic gardening and upkeep of outdoor areas.
  • Ensure safe use and maintenance of playground equipment.

Logistics & Support

  • Receive and distribute deliveries.
  • Move furniture and equipment as required.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies.

Lettings

  • Support the smooth running of school lettings and to meet different customer requirements, ensuring the safety and security of the school premises, contents and users.
  • Ensure that the school is open and closed at the designated time and check that the facilities are prepared for the site users.
  • Ensure the hirer complies with the terms and conditions of the Lettings Policy.
  • Determine the appropriate action to deal with immediate facilities issues and resolve where possible.

Personal attributes

Essential

  • Good practical skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in a trade (e.g., joinery, plumbing).
  • Previous experience in a school or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and school health & safety requirements.
